Kian and his karting, the beginnings
Our little racer son Kian started driving electric karts when he was only 4 years old (2015). That he got into karting was more by chance. One Sunday morning, we took from an excursion book of Switzerland («1001 Ausflugsziele») that there is an indoor kart track in Spreitenbach near us. The weather was bad and we decided to go there.
With 4 years (2015) he was actually much too small to drive electric kart, because he was only 1m 15cm at the time (but for his age already relatively large).
But due to an exception, he was allowed to do his first laps and quickly we all realized that there must be some talent there…. Kian was visibly enthusiastic and didn’t want to stop doing laps, even though after a few laps it becomes physically demanding for adults and the steering is hard to handle. From that day on we went once a week to the indoor kart track (electric) in Spreitenbach. He very quickly became good for his age, by which is meant that adults had practically no chance to drive faster laps than him. Kian’s overtaking maneuvers and ideal line were also very impressive.
Small side note. As Kian’s father, I had nothing to do with racing in my life, nor was I a fan of motorsports in any way. Today I am really fascinated by this sport through my son! 🙂
